Fairtrade deal

Ice-cream manufacturer Ben & Jerry's will apply Fairtrade standards across its entire global flavour portfolio. Every ingredient used in the icecream products will be Fairtrade-certified in Ireland by the end of next year, with all flavours globally being converted by the end of 2013.

This means working with Fairtrade Co-ops that total a combined membership of over 24,000 farmers. The standard also means that certified farmers are using environmentally sound practices to grow and harvest their crops in a sustainable way.
