FAST-FOOD chain McDonald's said that it increased exports of Irish produce to €200m in 2011.

The figure is an increase of €40m on 2008, the group said.

McDonald's exports of Irish beef rose to €110m in 2011 and Ireland is also a major supplier of dairy produce and eggs to McDonald's.

All of the beef used in McDonald's restaurants in Ireland is sourced from Bord Bia Quality Assurance Scheme (QAS) farms, the company said. A new campaign recognising the role of the 18,000 Bord Bia QAS Irish farmers who supply McDonald's Europe will go live from tomorrow.
