Ex hockey star awarded €32k Death sentence for drug dealer

A FORMER star hockey player who drove into the back of a works van on the M50 has been awarded almost €32,000 damages for a back injury.

Kilkenny county player Samantha Wilson (29), of Oakhill, Castlecomer, Co Kilkenny, told the Circuit Civil Court she drove into the MCR Building Services van in December 2006 after it emerged without warning from a break in a bollard. She was then hit from behind.

Judge Linnane awarded Ms Wilson €25,000 damages for personal injury against MCR Building Services, Capel Building, Dublin, with €6,636 special damages and expenses.

Death sentence for drug dealer

Chinese state media said a court upheld the death sentence for a Nigerian man convicted of dealing heroin in the southern industrial centre of Shenzhen.

The Nigerian man, identified in court documents as Osonwa Okey Noberts, was convicted of buying heroin from traffickers and supplying it to lower-level dealers.
