Ex-Anglo chief released after being quizzed in bank probe

FORMER Anglo Irish Bank finance director William McAteer was released without charge this morning.

Mr McAteer was arrested yesterday in Rathgar by detectives from the Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation.

He was questioned at Irishtown Garda Station. Gardai said the arrest was part of the ongoing investigation by gardai from the GBFI and the Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement. A file is now being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

It was the second time Mr McAteer was arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation into alleged financial irregularities at Anglo Irish Bank.
