Eurozone stagnates

Eurozone economic growth ground to a halt in the second quarter as Germany's
economy shrank and France's stagnated.

It puts further pressure on Mario Draghi (pictured) and the ECB to act.

Germany, Europe's largest economy, contracted by 0.2pc, while France, the second largest economy, fared little better; its GDP failed to grow for the last six months.

The figures were cause for alarm, as the eurozone is already bracing for the impact of sanctions imposed on and by Russia over Ukraine.
