EU rules challenge

A GROUP of German lawmakers plan to lodge a complaint against planned EU-wide fiscal rules.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel (right) aims to put the EU's fiscal pact and European Stability Mechanism (ESM) to parliament in May.

The alliance of opponents said that they would object to the new bailout facility with the Constitutional Court once they had gone through parliament.

"The Rubicon to a European federal state will have been crossed," law professor Christoph Degenhart told reporters.
