Engineer traded his child porn pictures

A Balbriggan engineer distributed pornographic images he had taken of five children -- including his abuse of one young girl -- to 150 fellow paedophiles.

Timothy Leahy (pictured) has been remanded in custody for sentencing after he admitted to taking sickening images, including a series of himself abusing a six-year-old girl, which he had said he would trade, rather than charging a fee for them.

Leahy (50), previously of Ardgillan Road, Ardgillan Heights, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to production of child pornography, distribution, sexual exploitation and one charge of sexual assault on dates between January 01, 2005 and November 7, 2008. He has no previous convictions. The maximum penalty for these offences is 14 years.

Detective Sergeant Vincent Healy told Mr Dominic McGinn, prosecuting, that Leahy was identified by gardai after they were contacted by the FBI in America in relation to the distribution of child pornographic images from a particular email address.
