A TOTAL of 79 jobs are to be created at a medical devices company in Carrick-on-Shannon in Co Leitrim.

VistaMed already employs 93 people. The new jobs are part of a €7.2m investment in research and development.

Established in 1998, VistaMed designs, develops and manufactures complex catheters and other medical devices. It has two manufacturing plants, in Carrick-on-Shannon and Rooskey.

Enterprise Ireland is supporting the investment. The Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton (above) welcomed the announcement, as it came from an Irish company in a regional location.
