IRISH actress Emma Eliza Regan is making her mark in the world of movies as she tours the US promoting her latest flick, Darkness On the Edge of Town.

The Galway native is surprised at how fast she managed to land a lead role so soon after her move to London.

"I'm really shocked that I got this role and it's really crazy because I didn't expect to get a lead in a British film so soon," she revealed.

She will also grace our screens alongside Love/Hate's Peter Coonan in the Irish film Get Up and Go.

"I think everybody in Ireland will love it because Peter is in it. He's really fantastic," she said.

"He's really genuine, he's a dad and he's really devoted and extremely professional."

But talented Emma Eliza is keen to get working on a script she penned herself that she wants to shoot in Ireland.

"I've got a draft finished and that would be a dream for me to shoot in the Aran Islands," she said.
