A 94-year-old man was killed in a three-car pile-up in Wexford.

The elderly man died when the car in which he was a passenger was involved in a collision near Gurteenminogue Lower, Murrintown.

The incident happened at around 4.45pm and the man was transferred to Wexford General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the car, an 80-year-old woman, and the two occupants of a second car, a 27-year-old woman and a girl aged four, were also taken to hospital.

Their injuries are not thought to be serious.

In a separate incident, a motorcyclist was killed after he was involved in a collision with a car in a Dublin industrial estate.

The 44-year-old man, who was from Co Wicklow, was on the Ballymount Road Lower, Walkinstown, at around 2.35pm when he was involved in a collision with a car.

He was taken by ambulance to Tallaght Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

A 60-year-old woman driving the car that was involved in the collision suffered minor injuries.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to contact them on the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.

In another incident, three people were lucky to escape after a serious two car collision in Cork.

Three ambulances and gardai attended the scene at Lissacreasig yesterday.
