THE G8 summit will boost local firms in the north-west of Ireland by €2.5m, new research has estimated.
The summit takes place on June 17 and 18 at Lough Erne, Co Fermanagh. Leaders attending include US president Barack Obama, German chancellor Angela Merkel and British prime minister David Cameron.
The study, published by Barclays, shows that three out of four respondents believe Ireland, north and south, will enjoy the economic benefits of the summit, with the tourism and hospitality sectors the most positive about the event.
The direct and immediate benefits to Northern Ireland are estimated to be around €50m.
