Dunnes Stores call back kids' slippers

Dunnes Stores have warned customers there is a potential safety issue with some children's slippers that have been on sale across the chain.

The Irish supermarket group have issued a product recall on the slippers which feature Sesame Street children's favourites Elmo and the Cookie Monster.

The slippers (inset) feature the icharacter's face at the toe. Dunnes said there is a possibility of the eyes becoming detached "when force is applied."

The recall comes days after the chain was forced to recall bottled water that was found to contain residues of cleaning fluid.

The affected water was the Dunnes Stores 'my family favourites' Natural Irish Still Water, sold in a multi-pack of 12 500-ml bottles.

The problem came to light after two consumers noticed a bad taste, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) said last week. All batches of the water with expiry dates of November, 2015 should be returned for a full refund.

The store is also offering a full refund on the children's slippers bought on or after Thursday, September 25.

The unsafe slippers carry the style numbers, 6440891 RED and 6440892 BLUE with a refund available from any Dunnes outlet.
