it seems the Fifty Shades effect might be rubbing off on Dubliners. Lingerie company Ann Summers' O'Connell St store (above) is one of the top two performing outlets in the 144-store group.
The UK firm had to overcome opposition from Dublin City Council 15 years ago to open up its O'Connell Street shop - and it now appears that it's paying off handsomely for the firm.
Accounts for the UK arm show that overall the business recorded revenues in excess of £100m (€136m) last year.
Still, profits slipped into the red amid problems at its party-plan business, which sells vibrators and other sex toys.
The privately-owned company reported a £3.9m loss in its last financial year, down from a profit of £2.4m a year. Chief executive Jacqueline Gold said the year was "challenging" thanks to online rival Lovehoney.
