Dubliner is new face of Nike

A YOUNG sports fanatic from Dublin has been picked as a Nike sports ambassador due to her passion for urban sports.

Ciara Clancy (20) from Skerries impressed the judges at Nike Select by proving a high level of fitness and her passion for breakdancing, capoeira, and free running.

She will spend the next year promoting sport to women in Ireland and Britain, and she will work with top athletes like Paula Radcliffe and English footballer Lianna Sanderson -- and the Irish rugby team.

Ciara has already rubbed shoulders with rap artists P Diddy and Busta Rhymes in the Nike offices in London.

She told the Herald: "Nike wanted to get really fit girls, so we had to be fit and really involved in sport.

"We did circuit training under Sonja Moses, one of the top trainers in the UK, and we did quite a long run through London.

"They basically put us through our paces through the Nike Fitness Club.

"They interviewed us as well, and we went into a big arena and did press ups and squat drills."

Ciara added: "They'll support me with clothes which is great, because clothes are a huge thing with dancing. My field is urban sport.

"I'm interested in getting women involved in fitness. Hopefully I'll get a Nike training club set up in college, and teach dance."
