A DUBLIN director is taking the helm of a new adaptation of legendary characters Arthur and Merlin.
Marco van Belle (35), from Stillorgan, originally trained as an actor before moving on to work at the BBC.
"But I found the real world stuff a bit dull," he told the Herald.
Marco has co-written and directed a new imagining of the legendary English characters.
While audiences might associate King Arthur and the wizard Merlin with the 12th Century medieval period, they actually first appeared in 5th Century Celtic tales.
"When you think about Arthur and Merlin you imagine medieval times but these stories were based on 5th and 6th century Celtic tales.
"We've stripped it right back to the original Celtic tales so it is actually truer to the original tales," Marco said.
