DUBLIN city council is on track to almost double its spend on hotel bills for homeless families. Figures just released to councillors show that in the first six months of the year more than €4.5m has been spent on commercial hotels for homeless families.
In 2014, the bill for housing families in hotels was €5.3m.
Details of this year's €68m budget for the four local authority regions in the capital were sent to councillors last night.
The majority of the budget (€45m) will be spent on emergency accommodation.
