A DRIVER who lost control of his car on a bend and ploughed head-on into an oncoming vehicle had cannabis in his system, a court heard.
Kevin Harris (24) was taken to hospital after the crash, as was the other driver, who blacked out for a short while.
Judge Dermot Dempsey fined Harris €1,000 and banned him from driving for four years.
The defendant, of Temple View Copse, Clare Hall, Dublin 13, was found guilty before Swords District Court of drug-driving at Hearse Road, Donabate, on July 28.
Gda Barry Connor said Harris passed the roadside breath test but a subsequent blood test recorded positive for cannabis.
Defence lawyer Patrick Jackson had claimed the crash was an accident as the road was greasy due to heavy rain.
