Driver facing road rage case

A YOUNG motorist is alleged to have attacked another driver after the pair were involved in an accident in Dublin city centre.

Jason Doyle (20) is accused of striking the male driver a number of times, leaving him needing medical attention.

The defendant, of Clifden Drive in Ballyfermot, appeared before Dublin District Court charged with seriously assaulting another motorist.

The incident took place at Victoria Quay shortly before 5pm on February 17.

It was alleged that Doyle left the scene and was later identified by gardai. Judge Denis McLoughlin adjourned the matter for four weeks.

Mum of two in taxi fare row

A MOTHER of two who started shouting at gardai when she was brought to a garda station for refusing to pay a taxi fare has admitted she has a drink problem.

Mary Hand (35) apologised for her behaviour, saying she has paid the taxi driver.

She said she realises her drinking has spiralled out of control. Judge Denis McLoughlin fined her €150.

Hand, of Church Road in Mulhuddart, admitted before Dublin District Court to public drunkenness and disorderly conduct. The defendant had six previous convictions, all for drink-related offences.
