A 45-year-old man who tried to convince a garda he was a teenager in a traffic stop has been fined €200.
Alan Rooney had a warrant out for him at the time and did not want to lose his job, Dublin District Court heard.
Rooney, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to giving gardai false details at the R118, Wyatville Link Road, Dublin 18 on February 11, 2014.
The prosecuting garda told Judge Michael Walsh he was at a checkpoint when he pulled the defendant over.
He asked him his details and the accused gave the name Mark Rooney and an address, but when it was checked, there was no such person.
"He gave a date of birth that would have made him a teenager, which roused my suspicions," the garda said. Defence Solcitor Jenny McGeever said the accused did a "stupid thing".
