Domestic trips rise

IRISH residents took almost 1.7m domestic trips in the second quarter of the year.

Each trip had an average duration of 2.6 nights, resulting in a total of 4.3m bed nights and is a 0.5pc increase on the same period last year.

Almost half of all domestic trips were classified as holidays, while 36.5pc were to visit friends or relatives.
