Doctors are most trusted

MOST Irish people trust their doctors to tell the truth, a Medical Council survey shows.

Teachers are the second most trusted professionals followed by professors and television news readers.

Some 77pc of those surveyed said that they trust the likes Brian Dobson and Sharon Ni Bheolain, compared to 92pc who trust their doctors.

Politicians are least trusted at 14pc.

Ryanair blow

for Gathering

RYANAIR says The Gathering will not bring extra visitors to the capital due to the fees charged at Dublin Airport.

The airline has accused the Dublin Airport Authority ripping off people who are considering visiting Ireland for next year's celebration.

The criticism comes after the DAA revealed plans to increase passenger fees by 0.5pc. Ryanair's Stephen McNamara described the rise as "skyway robbery".

Americans put on Greek alert

The US embassy in Athens has updated its travel advice for American citizens visiting Greek cities, fearing "violent attacks" against people who could be mistaken for foreign migrants.

Greece has seen an increase in racist violence in the past year, with dark-skinned migrants attacked by gangs armed with metal bars, knives and bats. Tens of thousands of migrants have also been rounded up by police.
