Digital Hub creates Connected Health

THE call has been put out by Dublin's St James's Hospital to technology companies to help develop a ECG monitoring system and boost emergency room capabilities.

The hospital has linked up with the Digital Hub to create Connected Health – an initiative aimed at supporting digital technology companies to develop solutions to healthcare challenges.

The current call for expressions of interest is aimed at developing a system that enables electrocardiogram (ECG) images and data to be captured remotely. They can then be wirelessly transmitted in real-time from ambulance or patient locations to the emergency and cardiac departments of St James's Hospital.

Dr Stephen Brennan (pictured), chief strategy officer with The Digital Hub, said that this is a pilot project within St James's, but it could have potential for expansion to other hospitals.
