Dempsey joins Russian show

A 13-year-old Irish figure skater is to star alongside a world famous Russian ice troupe in the Peter Pan On Ice show here in Dublin next July.

Dempsey Andrews is the only Irish person to skate with the Russian Ice Stars Troupe this summer.

The talented teen told the Herald: "I just feel it's amazing being able to skate in this show again. I've been skating with them for the last six years in a row.

"Being able to look up to them is a really good experience for me and I try to achieve what they're doing."

Dempsey made history when she became the youngest ice figure skater to perform on ice with The Russian Ice Stars on a UK tour, but now she's coming home for a series of cameos at the Citywest Convention Centre.

Dempsey trains hard during the week, both before and after school, and she fits in dancing and going to the gym with her dad as well.

She also travels over to Coventry, England, once a month to train with professional coaches.
