Death-crash woman may have been ill

A WOMAN who died in a two-car crash in Sutton may have become incapacitated just before the accident.

Gardai are awaiting post mortem results on the women, in her late 60s or early 70s, who was pronounced dead at Beaumont Hospital.

The collision happened shortly after 5.30pm yesterday on the Howth Road, Sutton.

It is understood her car crossed the road and struck another vehicle a glancing blow. The occupants of the second car were uninjured.

One line of inquiry being followed by Gardai is that she may have had an underlying health issue and they are awaiting the results of a post mortem examination.

The accident scene on the coast road was closed for some hours, with traffic diverted as Garda forensic collision investigators examined the area.
