SINGER Daniel O’Donnell has been left devastated after the death of his beloved mother Julia.
The Donegal crooner (52) broke the news to fans that his 94-year-old mum had died in the early hours of Sunday morning as her family kept a bedside vigil.
“It is with great sadness that we have to announce that our dear mother Julia passed away peacefully in the loving care of the staff of Dungloe Hospital surrounded by all her family on Sunday, May 18 at 3.50am,” he said.
“My siblings John, Margaret, Kathleen, James and myself would like to thank you all for the kindness you have shown to her down through the years. May her gentle soul rest in peace.”
His wife Majella echoed his comments with a post on Twitter, saying it was “with sadness” that she announced Julia’s passing. Daniel had to dash home from a performance in Scotland last week after his mother suddenly took a turn for the worse.
He is the youngest of five children that Julia had with her husband Francie, who died suddenly from a heart attack at the age of 49.
