IRISH teen sensation Damian McGinty is celebrating his 19th birthday with fellow Glee stars today.
The talented singer may have just been cast in one of the most popular series in the world, but he's hard at work instead of enjoying the high life. The humble Co Derry native has been following a gruelling schedule of singing, dancing and fitness classes, as well as filming, since winning the Glee Project.
The 6ft teenager was one of 40,000 young performers to apply online for the chance to be part of a programme watched by millions all over the world.
He was proclaimed joint winner of the contest with Californian Samuel Larson (19) last month and is busy making a huge name for himself in Hollywood.
"Great day today, so tired, but SO much to work on....," he wrote online. He also revealed that he had been waking up extra early, sometimes only getting five hours of sleep, in order to keep up with the production.
All his efforts will soon pay off as he is set to appear in the world-famous show from next month.
Glee's third season will premiere on September 20 in the States and two days later in Ireland where it will be available on Sky One.
Damian should become a regular cast member from the fourth episode where he will be introduced as foreign exchange student Rory.
The blue-eyed youngster began raising his profile in the States when he was 14 years old.
At the time, he joined the all-male singing group Celtic Thunder, which has already sold more than one million albums.
Despite his young age, he performed with the group at the White House in 2009 for St Patrick's Day celebrations.
While he always hoped to break into the American entertainment industry, Damian admitted that he never expected such a warm response.
"Over in America, it's really blown up, the past year has been crazy!" he said.
