Dalkey 'bubble' burst for walk on the wild side

FORMER Herald journalist Dave Kenny will swap his Dalkey "bubble" for bog snorkelling and camping along Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way in a new TV programme.

The eight-part series will see Dubliner Kenny, a best-selling author, taking on unfamiliar challenges on the country's beautiful Atlantic coast.

The show, Kenny Wild, will air from October on new station IrishTV on Sky 191, Freesat 400,
eVision 191 and online at irishtv.ie.

The writer of The Little Buke of Dublin and Erindipity: The Irish Miscellany, will begin his journey in Donegal and travel down to Cork.

"I've done most of my work within the bubble of Dublin, and within that bubble is another one called Dalkey, so this journey is about taking me outside my comfort zone and experiencing the real Ireland that I've been writing about for so long," he said.

"I'm going to immerse myself in this in a way no other travelogue has before. I'll be camping along the way, trying my hand at bog snorkelling and learning to play the uilleann pipes."

Dave will also chat with a culchie dolphin, party with teens in the Gaeltacht and have his palm read by a witch in Cobh.
