Dad 'on the run' for over a year

A FATHER of four who has allegedly been on the run from gardai for more than a year has claimed that two officers live around the corner from him and he passes them daily.

Shane Kinsella (36) is alleged to have run from gardai when they tried to arrest him on Thursday night on foot of two bench warrants.

The accused, with addresses at Saunders Lane and Ballybeg, Rathnew, appeared in Dun Laoghaire District Court. Garda Condra said he arrested Kinsella shortly after 8pm on February 18. Kinsella was charged with seriously assaulting a man on Dunbar Road, Wicklow on December 18, 2008. The judge remanded Kinsella in custody.

Charity gears up for bike ride

Concern Worldwide is hoping that people will get on their bikes for a 10-day African adventure in aid of the charity.

The trip will take place in July, from the base of Kilimanjaro to the gate of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Over the 10 days there will be a five-day cycle, clocking up a total of 285 kilometres. The longest day of cycling is 100km and the shortest is 35km. For more details see www.concernchallenge.org.

Chavez talks of grid sabotage

President Hugo Chavez accused his enemies of sabotaging Venezuela's electricity grid in a plan aimed at bringing about the system's collapse -- and his downfall.

Mr Chavez said authorities must be "on the alert" and apprehend anyone who cut electricity cables connected to the grid.

"Patrols must be carried out to capture the saboteurs because those responsible must be caught and put in prison," he said during his weekly television and radio programme Hello President.

Van drivers put bottoms top

Women may worry about the size of their backsides but male van drivers favour ladies' bottoms in a big way, according to a new poll.

The bottom was voted the sexiest part of a female body in a survey by the VanInsurance.co.uk.

Breasts were regarded as the next most-attractive female feature, followed by legs.
