TOURISM figures are expected to swell in the west of Ireland for the Tour de Conamara later this month.
It is expected that 1,500 cyclists from home and abroad will take part in the 2013 Skoda Cycling Festival on May 25 and 26.
The race itself will be led out by five times Tour de France winner Bernard Hinault who, last year, rated it as one the best routes he has ridden. He is back to tackle the 140km route this year.
The cycling event is designed to work alongside Failte Ireland's strategy of developing key tourism experiences along the planned Wild Atlantic Way.
