Credit unions boosted

NO credit union has required a single cent of State support, the chief executive of the Irish League of Credit Unions has said.

Kieron Brennan said the difficulties being faced by other institutions represent a great opportunity for credit unions.

"Credit unions, unlike other institutions, are still providing loans to their members," he said. "Far from becoming irrelevant, they are being recognised as being different to other institutions."
