Youth's iPhone mugging case

A YOUTH has been accused of mugging a woman in Dublin city-centre for her iPhone.

The 17-year-old was charged at the Children's Court with robbery at Buckingham Street Lower in the north inner city on July 11.

Garda Eoin Treacy told Judge Elizabeth MacGrath that the teenager was held for questioning after his arrest on Monday.

Garda Treacy was agreeable to bail being granted to the boy provided conditions were imposed.

He asked for an 11pm to 8am curfew to be imposed as well as an order to force the youth to "abstain from alcohol and drugs" and to sign on twice weekly at Store Street Garda Station.

Judge MacGrath agreed and remanded the teenager on bail to appear again in September.

She granted legal aid after hearing that the teenager was due to start a training course.

The youth was also warned that he must comply with his bail terms or else he will go into custody.
