Young man with knife was pepper sprayed

A YOUNG man had to be pepper sprayed when he ran downstairs with a kitchen knife as gardai arrived at his home to investigate a reported domestic disturbance.

Sean Oglesby (23) ran from the officers into his garden but was caught and arrested.

Judge Ann Ryan adjourned the case against him for the production of a probation report.

Oglesby, a father-of-one of Galtymore Close, Drimnagh, pleaded guilty at Dublin District Court to unlawful possession of a knife.

The court heard gardai responded to a call on May 3, 2015. The accused's mother told them Oglesby was in the house acting aggressively.

FAILED

He came down the stairs with a knife, failed to comply with the directions of the gardai and was pepper-sprayed.

He fled into the garden but was arrested with the knife in his pocket.

On the night, the accused had "consumed an intoxicant" and gardai agreed there was a "considerable change in his character" the following morning.

"He accepts his behaviour on the night was quite serious," defence barrister Rory Staines said.

"He would not have done anything with the knife but he accepted he should not have had it."
