Uninsured daughter caught on mercy dash

A YOUNG woman who took a car belonging to her terminally-ill father and drove to a pharmacy to get medicine for him ended up in court.

Stacy Brennan (22) was on her way to the chemist when she was stopped by gardai and asked for her insurance.

Judge James McDonnell fined Brennan €250 but did not impose a driving ban, saying he accepted it was a medical emergency.

The defendant, of Brook-view Grove in Tallaght, admitted before Tallaght District Court to driving without insurance or a NCT certificate.

The incident took place at Brookfield Road in Tallaght about 4.30pm on March 29 last.

The court heard that Brennan has no previous convictions. She was helping her mother to care for her father who has since died.
