Two men have been charged after gardai seized more than €441,000 worth of cocaine and cannabis, cash to the value of more than €19,000, and two Rolex watches as part of Operation Tara at the weekend.

The men were arrested following a search of a house in the Clonsilla area of west Dublin by the Dublin Metropolitan Region West Divisional Drugs Unit on Saturday.


At approximately 7.30pm, gardai conducted the search under warrant at a house in the residential estate of Charnwood Grove in Dublin 15.

During the course of the search operation, suspected cocaine with an estimated value of €171,000 and suspected cannabis herb with an estimated value of €270,000 were seized along with the cash, Rolex watches and other drug paraphernalia.

The two men were arrested at the scene and taken to Blanchardstown Garda Station and detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act.


Keith Banks (41), from Castleknock Glade, and Brian Wildman (37), from Charnwood Grove in Clonsilla, appeared at Dublin District Court yesterday charged with possession of drugs and possession of drugs with the intent to supply.

The court heard they made no reply when charged.

Both men were remanded in custody in Cloverhill Prison to appear in court again on August 6 via video link.
