Two face trial over school theft

TWO men accused of theft at a south Dublin school have been sent for trial to Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Michael Purcell (31) and Patrick Joyce (39) are both facing charges arising from incidents at St Benildus College, Dundrum and Wesley College, Balinteer.

They are charged with possession of a screwdriver for use in a theft at St Benildus College, Kilmacud Road, causing criminal damage to a car at the same location and theft of a Garmin satnav at Wesley College on June 21.

Purcell, of Grove Lane, Malahide Road, Dublin 17, and Joyce, of Primrose Grove, Darndale, both had books of evidence served on them when they appeared in Dun Laoghaire District Court.

The court heard they made no reply to charge after caution.

Judge Clare Leonard gave them the formal alibi warning before returning them for trial to the Circuit Court. They were remanded on their own bail.
