Trial over break-in as pair slept

A MAN is facing trial for allegedly breaking into an apartment while the owners were asleep in bed.

Andrew Mulvey (20) was allegedly searching through a wardrobe and jewellery box in a bedroom when he was apprehended by gardai.

A court was told the householders heard Mulvey breaking in and they escaped out the back and called the gardai.

He is facing trial in the Circuit Court after a judge ruled the matter was too serious for the District Court.

Mulvey, of Bawnlea Avenue in Tallaght, appeared before Tallaght District Court charged with burglary and criminal damage at Carrigmore Way in Saggart on June 16 last.

Garda Sergeant Bernard Jones said that when gardai arrived at the apartment, they found Mulvey and his accomplice in the bedroom. Mulvey was allegedly wearing a ski mask, while his accomplice was wearing a head band with a torch.

The case was adjourned to October.
