Time to pay for DIY store thief

A DUBLIN man who stole hardware from a DIY store has been given six months to repay compensation.

Stephen Mole (40) took kitchen hardware valued at more than €1,400.

The defendant, of Glenshesk Road in Whitehall, admitted a charge of theft before Blanchardstown District Court.

The incident took place at Noyek Newman, Finglas Road on last August 3.

His defence lawyer said Mole, who is unemployed and on social welfare, admitted the theft but was hoping for time to pay compensation.

Murder probe woman held

A CARE worker accused of impeding the investigation into the murder of Maurice Martin has been further remanded in custody for two weeks.

Siobhan Whitaker (24), originally from Finglas but now living in Maida Vale in London, was arrested last month after she came off a flight at Dublin Airport.

Mr Martin (21) was attacked and repeatedly stabbed during a fight in Finglas on the night of June 11, 2009 after being at a house party in the area.

A passing taxi driver raised the alarm early the following morning and Mr Martin was later found dead.
