Three charged after €70k cocaine swoop

THESE are the three men in their 20s who have been charged in connection with the seizure of a kilo of cocaine worth €70,000.

Jason Smith (27), Simon McDonald (29) and Nathan Oladeru (26) were arrested after armed detectives stopped several vehicles on the Naas Road.

One of the vehicles was stopped by undercover detectives from the Organised Crime Unit (OCU) on the N7, near Newlands Cross, while a second was stopped close by in Rathcoole.

Detectives allegedly uncovered a kilo of cocaine, with an estimated street value of €70,000, and the men were later arrested and charged with drugs offences.

The three men appeared before Cloverhill District Court charged with possession of cocaine and having the drug for sale or supply on May 12 last.

Det Garda Brian Johnston told Cloverhill District Court that the trio are facing further charges.

Their case was adjourned for eight weeks while the DPP considers bringing fresh charges against them.

Oladeru, of Mount Symon Avenue, in Clonsilla, was charged separately to the other two.

Smith, of Kildare Road, Crumlin, and McDonald, with an address at Iona Road, in Glasnevin, were charged with the drugs offences by Garda Sergeant Barry Smith at Clondalkin Garda Station at 2.55pm on May 17. Each was handed a true copy of the charge sheets, and they made no reply after caution.

The men must abide by stringent bail conditions, including a daily signing on condition.

They have also surrendered their passports and have given an undertaking that they will not apply for new documentation.

Judge John Lindsay remanded the men on continuing bail to appear before Blanchardstown District Court in July.
