A woman whose house was ransacked during a burglary has recovered precious family photos after a man was caught near her house with her stolen MP3 player.
Mark Waldron (31) handed over the pink Sony MP3 player to gardai after they stopped and searched him. Waldron, a recovering heroin addict, was remanded in custody for two weeks for a probation report.
The defendant, of Greenfort Crescent, Clondalkin, admitted before Blanchardstown District Court to possession of stolen property. Garda Sergeant Damien Galligan said a home at Foxford Park in Lucan was burgled early in the morning of January 17. The house was ransacked and a number of cheques, as well as three diamond engagement rings, perfume and a Sony MP3 player were taken in the burglary.
Sgt Galligan said that at 6pm on January 17 gardai found Waldron with the perfume at Buirg An Ri Walk, Lucan.
He was also found with the pink Sony MP3 player in his pocket. The victim later identified the perfume and the MP3 player, which contained precious pictures of her family.
The court heard that Waldron had 42 previous convictions, many for burglary.
