Teen left victims scarred in vicious beer can attack

A TEENAGER allegedly shoved a crushed beer can into the faces of two young men during a trackside assault.

Martin Brooks (18) is accused of leaving the two young victims with permanent scars on their faces following the attack.

The accused, of The Rise, Kiltipper Gate in Tallaght, appeared before Tallaght District Court charged with two counts of assault, contrary to Section 3 of the Non Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.

The alleged assault took place at the Cheeverstown Luas stop on February 10 last.

FORCED

The court heard that Brooks is also charged with burglary at a house at Drumcairn Avenue in Tallaght around 4.30am on February 28.

Garda Sergeant Carmel Henry alleged Brooks forced in the front door and stole a bicycle, worth €1,200, which was in the hallway.

Sgt Henry said the victim was asleep upstairs at the time. He heard noise, saw Brooks cycling away on the bike and called the gardai.

The DPP has directed summary disposal of the matters in the District Court.

Judge Anthony Halpin adjourned the matter for three weeks to allow Brooks to speak to his solicitor.
