THIS is the teen who hid cannabis in an aftershave box in his bedroom.

Mark Conroy (19) was caught with the drug after gardai raided his family home in Castleknock.

The matter was before the court for sentencing after a judge ordered a probation report and urinalysis.

Conroy, of Castleknock Glade in Castleknock, had admitted before Blanchard-stown District Court to possession of cannabis.

Garda Sergeant Maria Callaghan said gardai searched the defendant's home around 11.45pm on April 15, 2013.

Quantity

She said officers found a quantity of cannabis hidden in an aftershave box with a street value of €250.

The court heard Conroy has no previous convictions and hasn't been in trouble with gardai since this incident. Defence solicitor Mark O'Sullivan asked the judge to leave Conroy without a conviction, as he is a young man who may wish to travel and a drugs conviction would impact on his ability to get a visa to work overseas.

Mr O'Sullivan said Conroy is now free from drugs. He has also co-operated fully with the probation service.

Judge David McHugh said he will apply the probation act if Conroy donates €50 to the Irish Cancer Society.
