Teen faces trial over phone theft

A TEENAGER accused of robbing a young man of his mobile phone is facing trial.

David Maloney (19) allegedly snatched the mobile phone during an incident along the Royal Canal on June 20, 2011.

He is facing trial by judge and jury in the Circuit Court after the DPP ruled the matter was too serious for the District Court.

Judge Hugh O'Donnell adjourned the matter for six weeks to a date in November for the service of the book of evidence.

The accused, of Deanstown Park in Finglas, appeared before Blanchardstown District Court charged with robbery of a Samsung mobile phone.
