Student wants drug case out of the way

A college student accused of growing cannabis plants in his bedroom has told a judge that he is anxious to deal with the matter as he is due to sit his exams later this month.

Carl Hales (24) is alleged to have had four cannabis plants.

He told a judge he is a student in Kevin Street DIT and said he's anxious to plead to the matters before his exams.

However, gardai said that DPP's directions are needed on the charges, as Hales is also accused of supplying cannabis.

Hales, of Willow Wood View, Hartstown, appeared before Blanchardstown District Court charged with simple possession of cannabis and cannabis herb.

The case was adjourned for two weeks.
