Shotguns case man faces trial

A YOUNG man who was allegedly caught by gardai with two stolen shotguns is facing trial on the charges.

Emmett McAuley (25) was allegedly stopped by detectives in Clondalkin and found with the weapons.

He is facing trial by judge and jury in the Circuit Court after the matters were deemed to be too serious for the District Court.

McAuley, with an address at Colthurst Road, Huntington Glen, Lucan, appeared before Blanchardstown District Court charged with possession of two stolen shotguns, a black semi-automatic Benelli shotgun and a Beretta shotgun.

Det Garda Colum Tighe said McAuley was further charged with possession of firearms without a licence and not having the guns for a lawful purpose. The alleged incident took place at Station Road, Clondalkin, on May 17 last.

The case was adjourned for four weeks and there was no objection to bail.
