Sex-mad boyfriend burnt partner's face

A MAN who punched and kicked his then girlfriend before he threw an electric heater at her because he was annoyed he couldn't get an erection has been given a three-and-a-half year sentence.

The court heard that Ruzmond Muwaniri (24), who had been in an on-off relationship with the 24-year-old woman for five years, has since been diagnosed as having paranoid schizophrenia. He has been on remand in the Central Mental Hospital since last August.

Garda Sharon Fletcher told Martina Baxter, prosecuting, that the couple had taken alcohol and drugs before having sex.

Muwaniri wanted to have sex a second time but became angry when he couldn't get an erection.

Garda Fletcher said Muwaniri then boxed the woman three times in the face and put his hands around her neck in an attempt to choke her.

He also burned her face with a cigarette and threw an electric heater at her, which caused further burn injuries to her face.

Muwaniri, of Grasslands, Enniskerry Road, Sandyford, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to assault on December 21, 2009. The judge imposed a three and suspended the final 18 months.
