Schoolboy on 'fight' charge after fracas at beach party

A TEENAGER accused of being involved in a melee at a popular Dublin swimming point has been remanded on continuing bail for six weeks to speak to his solicitor.

Karl McCallig (19) and his friends were celebrating the end of the school year when another group of revellers started a fight.

Garda Sergeant Peadar McCann said McCallig was not the aggressor and said his problem was he didn't walk away.

McCallig, of Cromlech Fields, in Ballybrack, appeared before Dun Laoghaire District Court charged with violent disorder.

The alleged incident took place at The Forty Foot, Sandycove Point in Dun Laoghaire on May 24, 2012.

BOTTLES

Sgt McCann said McCallig and his friends were celebrating the end of the school year when a second group of males came into the area around 8pm.

A war of words and a fight broke out, in which the other group produced bottles and a knife.
