A HOTEL guest was allegedly punched in the face following a verbal altercation in a toilet.
Gareth Cullen (29) is accused of hitting a man in the face and knocking him to the ground, where the man fractured his ankle.
Judge David McHugh adjourned the matter to a date in November for the disclosure of statements and CCTV footage.
The accused, with an address at Fettercairn Road in Tallaght, appeared before Blanchardstown District Court charged with seriously assaulting another man at the Carlton Hotel in Tyrrelstown on February 1.
The DPP has directed summary trial of the case in the District Court.
Outlining the allegation purposes, Sergeant Maria Callaghan said the alleged victim and a friend were in the hotel bar.
Sgt Callaghan said it will be alleged that there was an altercation in the toilets between the accused and the alleged victim.
Subsequently, the alleged victim was waiting for a taxi when Mr Cullen approached him and "words were exchanged", the sergeant alleged.
Sgt Callaghan claimed the victim received a blow to the face from Mr Cullen which knocked him to the ground.
She also claimed he suffered a fractured ankle, due to the way he fell.
A medical report of the victim's alleged injuries was handed into court.
Judge McHugh accepted jurisdiction.
Mr Cullen has yet to indicate a plea to the charge.
Defence solicitor Fiona Brennan said there should be "extensive disclosure" and she requested a copy of any statements as well as CCTV footage of the alleged incident.
