Roller blader assault charge

A YOUTH is facing trial accused of "orchestrating" a robbery on a Brazilian roller blader who was dragged to the ground and repeatedly beaten by four people.

The 17-year-old was charged at the Dublin Children's Court with robbery of €600, at Herberton Walk, in Rialto, in Dublin, on October 31 last.

The case was ruled too serious for the juvenile court, and will go to the Circuit Court, which has wider sentencing powers.

Garda Kevin Lawless said the man had been going home on roller-blades when he was chased and intercepted. Garda Lawless had alleged that "the accused orchestrated the incident and €600 was taken after the man was beaten up".
