Raiders hit shop twice in three days, court told

TWO men are alleged to have hit a southside store twice in the space of three days and robbed nearly €2,000 from staff.

And Alan Coyne (35) and Kenneth Valentine (32) are alleged to have robbed the same shop assistant in the raids at Sandycove.

A court heard that Coyne is facing trial on the charges.

DPP's directions remain outstanding in relation to the allegations against Valentine.

The men appeared before Dun Laoghaire District Court each charged with two counts of robbery. It is alleged they robbed a shop assistant in Spar, Sandycove Road, Sandycove, on October 7 and stole €1,200.

It is also alleged that the men returned two days later, on October 9, and stole a further €733 and a packet of cigarettes from the same assistant.

The State solicitor said the DPP has directed trial on indictment in the Circuit Court in relation to the allegations against Coyne, of Luttrell Park Drive in Castleknock.

However, she said DPP's directions remain outstanding on Valentine, with an address at Castlecurragh Vale in Mulhuddart. Judge John Lindsay adjourned Coyne's case for 10 weeks for the service of the book of evidence.

He also adjourned Valentine's case to the same date.
