Pair set for court on €2m heroin charge

TWO men charged in connection with a €2m heroin haul in Co Kildare have been sent for trial.

Brian Kavanagh (26) and Peter Murray (29) both had books of evidence served on them when they appeared in Blanchardstown District Court following the seizure last year.

The two were arrested in connection with the discovery of heroin at a filling station last August.

Kavanagh, with an address at Wheatley Hall, Clonee, Co Meath, and Murray, of Bellgree Heights, Tyrelstown, Dublin 15, are both charged with possession of more than €13,000 worth of the drug with intent to sell or supply at Beaufort Filling Station, Kill, Co Kildare on August 16, 2011.

They are also charged with possession of the drug for sale or supply at Naas Road, Kill, Co Kildare on the same date.

They both have 14 days in which to provide the prosecution with any alibi they intend to rely on for their defence.
